This is something that’s quite popular in the Philippines. At traditional receptions here, the groom and bride release a couple of doves into the air which grants them a long, harmonious and peaceful life for them together.

Confetti

In Italy, confetti isn’t just a strip of paper; it’s a sugary treat, for example, sugared almonds which wedding guests get at the reception. Confetti was thrown at the couple before it was replaced by tiny scraps of paper.

Sake-sharing ceremony

This is a popular wedding ceremony in Japan. It is a part of the san-san-kudo tradition of the country. Here, the groom and bride take 3 sips from flat sake cups and then their parents do the same thing. This helps bond their families together.

Log cutting

This is an important part of German tradition. Newlyweds need to put their bonds to the test by sawing a log in half while their guests watch. This is supposed to show that the groom and bride can work together and tackle any obstacle which life might throw at them.

Kransekake

In Norway, this is their own take on the Western wedding cake. It is basically a tower of iced cake rings made of almonds. It is quite common for these towers to be built over wine bottles so there’s a nice treat for guests who break off some pieces.
